Oakland Queer Soup Night Is An Event That Honors And Celebrates Queer Food Community And Culture In The Bay, Prioritizing Queer, Trans People Of Color.
This Month, We Are Raising Funds To Uplift The Work Of Queer Expression Oakland, A Youth-powered Community Organization Bringing Creative Movement & Making To Queer/trans Folks Through Workshops And Dances.
They Seek To Help People Connect To Their Inner Child And Revel In Qt Play And Joy Regardless Of Age.
Sliding Scale Ticket: There Is A Sliding Scale Suggested Donation Of $10-20. We Will Accept Cash Or Venmo At The Entrance. No One Will Be Turned Away For Lack Of Funds.
Covid Safety: Masks Are Highly Encouraged. Proof Of Vaccination Or Negative Covid Test Within 24 Hours Will Be Checked At Entrance.
Venue Information: This Event Will Be Outdoors. Folks Must Go Indoors To Access The Restrooms. The Entire Venue Is Street Level And There Are No Steps Required To Access The Event. Seating Areas Will Be Available Throughout The Space.
Proceeds: After Reimbursements For Food Expenses And Stipends To The Soup Creators And Photographer, 100% Of The Donations Collected From Queer Soup Night Will Go To The Beneficiary.
Transportation: Fruitvale Bart Is 0.2 Miles From Korner Oakland; See Actransit.gov For A Trip Planner. Parking At Bart Is Free On Weekends.
Sustainability: We Encourage Guests To Bring Their Own Bowl And Spoon. Compostable Wares And Utensils Will Be Provided As Well.
Scents And Chemicals: We Encourage Folks To Arrive Low-scent/fragrance-free.
Photography: A Photographer Will Be Present To Capture The Event. If You Do Not Want Your Picture Taken, We Will Provide A Way For You To Opt-out At Check-in.

Queer Soup Night Is A Queer Community Event Serving Soup To Those We Love, Raising Money For Local Orgs And Causes That We Support. Founded In 2017 In Brooklyn, Qsn Raised Over $70,000 For Various Organizations Through Events Across The Country. We Kicked Off Our Oakland Chapter With Our First Event On March 10th, 2019, Where We Gathered 200+ Attendees And Raised $2,000 For Bloom Community Transgender Healing Project. Before We Put A Pause On Events Due To The Pandemic, Our Chapter Raised Over $13,000 For Six Different Organizations.
With Just About A Week From Delicious Soup, We Want To Introduce You To The Beautiful People Serving Soup On Sunday:
Ari Daoheuang (They/them) Is A Born And Raised Bay Area Creative Who, In Typical Filipinx Fashion, Expressed Love Through Food And Hospitality. Growing Up With Thai-laotian And Filipinx Parents Deeply Influences The Way They Understand Flavor And The Rituals Of Sharing Meals. During Lockdown, They Devoted Most Of Their Time Recreating Plant-based Versions Of Dishes From Their Adolescence; Lugaw Being One Of The First Recreated Dishes. Atop Currently Directing Operations For Bake Sum Pastries Based In Oakland, Ari Is Also A Parent, Writer And Photographer. In Their Free Time, They're Gathering Friends And Family For Meals Or Out Somewhere In The Sun, Drinking Wine.
Helia Sadeghi Of Bigdill kitchen Is A Queer Baker Chef Based In Oakland, Ca. Through Their Pop-ups, Cakes, And Food, They Focus On Sharing Flavors And Traditions Inspired By Growing Up In Iran. They Share Their Food, Cakes, Recipes, And More On Their Instagram And Website.
