From the team who built the nationally recognized, award-winning Picān restaurant and bourbon lounge in Uptown Oakland. Plāyt is the newest concept located in Hayward's historic downtown; "Sideways Southern" with an emphasis on small and share plates, craft mixology, specialty cocktail, and bourbon. Casual, smart, and fresh, Plāyt is a fun place to drink and eat. Inspired by more than four centuries of women and men who tended kitchen and hearth, sowed the earliest cash crops, harvested both subsistence garden and plantation field, hunted, fished, trapped and traded throughout the Gulf states, Deep South, island Gullah, and the Carolina Lowcountry. Plāyt draws from ingredients and cooking traditions of the African windward coast, the bold flavors of the Atlantic cultures and the sensibilities of the first peoples, African-American, Haitian, Spanish, Caribbean, French, Cajun/Acadian, Creole, Native American, Irish, Scot, German, Italian and Chinese who shaped the Southern foodways.
