Description

Visit www.ComalBerkeley.com for menu and additional information. Dinner - 5:30-10pm Sunday thru Thursday; 5:30-11pm on Friday and Saturday. Front Bar opens for drinks at 5pm daily. COMAL is a gathering place located in the heart of Berkeley’s bustling Arts District, one block north of the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. The restaurant is housed in a single story building (circa 1927) built of board-formed concrete and features a stunning rear patio with a full bar, covered dining area and al fresco beer garden. Our food and drink menus are designed for sharing, highlighted by Platos Fuertes such as rotisserie chicken or wood-grilled whole fish and various masa-based antojitos. Executive Chef Matt Gandin, formerly of San Francisco’s Delfina, creates earthy, modern interpretations of dishes from various regions of Mexico, with an emphasis on the southern state of Oaxaca and neighboring coastal regions. We offer a selection of “all-Mexican” craft cocktails that are “delicious, not precious”. We also feature seasonal house-made sangritas paired with our curated selection of agave spirits (including tequila, mezcal, sotol and bacanora), a variety of aqua frescas and ten beers and two wines on tap.
